Nestled in the enchanting Fergana region of Uzbekistan lies IkatUz, a haven of tradition and artistry. Founded in 2016 by Azizbek, this family-run atelier cherishes the ancient craft of Ikat, pronounced ee-kaht, meaning 'to tie' in Indo-Malaysian. With its roots steeped in the history of the Silk Road, IkatUz is a sanctuary for 64 skilled artisans, weaving together stories of generations past.

Here, the delicate art of Ikat, known locally as "Abr-Band" or 'tie the cloud,' is meticulously crafted through a 37-step process. Ethical Fashion Initiative partners with this atelier, amplifying the voices of artisans who breathe life into every thread. Beyond preserving cultural heritage, IkatUz embraces sustainability, using natural dyes from plants and silk production.

Originally worn by kings and queens, Ikat remains a symbol of regality and tradition. Through IkatUz, artisans honor their ancestors, weaving dreams of prosperity for themselves, their families, and their beloved communities.
